Economic relations: UAE invites Pakistani investment

The volume of bilateral trade between Pakistan and UAE has increased to $8.4 billion.

ISLAMABAD: United Arab Emirates’ (UAE) Minister for Foreign Trade Sheikha Lubna bint Khalid alQasimi on Wednesday urged Pakistani entrepreneurs to take advantage of tremendous business opportunities offered by the UAE. In a meeting with the Ambassador of Pakistan to the UAE Jamil Ahmed Khan in Abu Dhabi, alQasimi proposed a single country exhibition of Pakistan in the UAE. She directed her staff to augment efforts for early finalisation of the Pak-UAE CEO’s Club as suggested by Khan to further strengthen the bilateral trade relations. She also stressed that Pakistani business community should take advantage of the re-export potential of Pakistani products from the UAE to other destinations in the Middle East, North Africa and Europe. Pakistan’s envoy in UAE Khan said Pakistan with its geostrategic location and deep-rooted ties with the UAE, had tremendous advantage in trade and commerce. He expressed satisfaction that the UAE had become the second highest destination for Pakistan’s exports as the volume of bilateral trade had increased to $8.4 billion.
