Bahawalpur Province: Governor reiterates support

The governor stressed the need for resolving problems through consensus among political parties.

BAHAWALPUR: Punjab Governor Makhdoom Ahmad Mehmood assured the people of Bahawalpur on Thursday that the government will not back out from its support for a Bahawalpur province. On Thursday, he met Bahawalpur National Awami Party (BNAP) chief Nawab Salahuddin Abbasi at Sadiq Garh Palace in Dera Nawab, shortly after he arrived in Bahawalpur for the first time after taking oath as governor. The Nawab was told that a meeting of the Pakistan People Party’s core committee will soon be called to discuss the creation of Bahawalpur province. The governor stressed the need for resolving problems through consensus among political parties. Former federal minister Prince Abbas Abbasi, BNAP President Muhammad Farooq Azam Malik and Sahabzada Faizul Rasheed Abbasi were also present.
