Pakistan Railways has added an air-conditioned sleeper coach and two lower air-conditioned coaches to its Sukkur Express.

The divisional superintendent of the Pakistan Railways, Syed Anzar Ismail Rizvi, inaugurated the new coaches on Wednesday at Karachi City Station. The Sukkur Express operates between Karachi and Jacobabad via Rohri and Sukkur and covers almost all of the major cities of Sindh. The airconditioned coaches of the train, withdrawn due to a fault in the air-conditioners, have now re-started.

According to Rizvi, the new coaches symbolised the revival of Pakistan Railways and “is a new year’s gift from Pakistan Railways”. The divisional commercial officer of Pakistan Railway’s, Shoaib Adil, told The Express Tribune that Sukkur Express is the only train of Pakistan Railways with 100 per cent occupancy. He  said that the Karachi division of the Pakistan Railways will delegate the ticket collection process of three of its passenger trains to private companies.
