Afghan President Hamid Karzai condemned the assassination of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) senior minister Bashir Bilour in a letter sent to Railway Minister Ghulam Ahmad Bilour.

In the letter to the late leader’s brother, Karzai expressed grief over the murder on behalf of the people of Afghanistan and wished for forbearance in the bereaved Bilour family and families of other blast victims.

He said the attack was carried out by enemies of both nations, who are trying to destabilise the region.

The Afghan president added that the people of K-P have been deprived of a beloved leader who served them for years, while Afghanistan has lost a respectable friend and brother.

Karzai mentioned that the brutal killing has created a vacuum which can never be filled, aadding that Allah accepts the martyrdom of great leaders for his people. The letter further mentioned prayers for safety of K-P and members of Awami National Party from such attacks in the future.
