LAHORE:

Additional District and Sessions Judge on Friday issued notices to former Punjab governor Ghulam Mustafa Khar for January 10 to respond to an appeal against a judgment declaring that the appellant had made a malicious claim of being his wife.

Earlier in 2010, a court had dismissed a suit for the recovery of dower by Neelofar and ruled against her on Khar’s suit for jactitation of marraige.

Neelofar on Friday submitted an appeal against the earlier judgment. She said a list of witnesses, NADRA record and a CD film of the couple she had submitted were excluded from evidence. She said that the order to disallow this evidence was illegal and should be set aside.

She asked the court to set aside the jactitation of marriage decree and issue a decree instead for the recovery of dower and maintenance.

According to her she married Khar in 2004. She says the dower was fixed at Rs2,500,000, a one-kanal house in Johar Town and 110 tolas of gold. Shey says Rs20,000 per month was also mentioned the nikah nama. She said Khar expelled her his house in 2007.

Khar’s suit for jactitation of marriage contended that Neelofar had forged a nikah nama to blackmail and defame him.
