LAHORE:

Forty-eight CCTV cameras installed in courtrooms and corridors at the Sessions Court have been out of order for the last five days, The Express Tribune has learnt.

A source said on the condition of anonymity that footage from 48 cameras was not appearing on three LCD screens at the control room since Saturday.

He said that wiring was being checked to see if, like on previous occasions, the problem had been caused by lawyers hooking up illegal electricity connections. The cameras at the district and sessions judge’s building is working.

SI Arif Chaudhary confirmed that all the cameras at the courtrooms of AD&S judges were out of order.

He said a team from Proline UK, which installed the cameras, had found a fault in the underground wiring which would be fixed by Thursday (today).

There are a total of 59 cameras at the Sessions Court – at the gates to the complex, in courtrooms and in corridors – as well as a control room. The system is backed up a by a 2,500-volt UPS.
