State of pitches worries batsmen

Players term strips not ideal for T20 format.

KARACHI: With the Faysal Bank T20 tournament into its third day, pitches have been a concern for batsmen, who have complained that the strips have been on the slower side, making batting difficult.

It has been said that the wickets have been damp due to the Lahore weather and the moisture has not helped the batsmen’s cause.

“The pitches have been on the slower side which isn’t ideal for the T20 format,” one of the players told The Express Tribune.

“There is inconsistency in the pitches, which is why teams have either scored under 100 or amassed over 150. The players expect pitches with true bounce and pace when it comes to the shorter format of the game.”

Meanwhile, the organisers claimed that the pitches have remained soft because they have not been able to get the required sunlight.

They added if the pitches can get proper sunlight, they would play true to their nature and that is something which is not in their hands.
