LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Wednesday extended the stay against naming Chaudhry Rehmat Ali Chowk (Shadman Fawara Chowk) after Bhagat Singh as the city district government Lahore (CDGL) had failed to submit its reply. Justice Nasir Saeed Sheikh also allowed two applications filed by social activists to become party in the case and directed the registrar’s office to fix their applications on the next date of hearing.  Dr Taimur Rehman and Saeeda Diep filed applications through Advocate Yasir Latif Hamdani. The judge adjourned the matter for the next three weeks.  Shadman Trader’s Union president Zahid Butt, also a member of Tehreek-i-Hurmat-i-Rasool, had filed a petition against the renaming of the chowk. The court on the previous hearing restrained the CDGL from issuing a notification in this regard.
