Fashion police: Black magic woman

Cyndi Lauper does not seem to be having any fun in this creepy ensemble.

American singer/songwriter and actor Cyndi Lauper arrived at the 40th American Music Awards in Los Angeles. Popular for songs like “Girls just wanna have fun”, Lauper does not seem to be having any fun in this creepy ensemble.

Hair

Pink undertone, sloppy cut, bed head hair is not high on the fashionable scale. Her bangs are not even, and the rest of it looks like a stringy mop. We’re crying out loud!

Accessories

How, what and why, would one choose to wear pointy icicle-looking black earrings, and a metal necklace that looks like the handiwork of Red Indians. Shudder!

Make-up

That lipstick is pretty when worn with some grace; Lauper’s not carrying it too well. She’s got grey eye-shadow smeared on; instead, if she applied a shimmery eye-shadow, with heavy mascara, it would bring out her eyes.

Outfit

If she’s going for a Goth look, Lauper messed up. It looks like she put her tights through a shredder; her jacket is nice but not with that Scottish red scarf pinned to it and it would have looked way better when paired with a pair of dark blue jeans and not those tights!

Wore it better

Charlize Theron

Charlize showed up at the Snow White and the Huntsmen premiere in this subtle Goth look; wearing a chiffon wrapped dress, with dramatic eyes and soft lips, this glamour girl looked stunning.

Lucy Hale

Lucy arrived at the American Music Awards in this cute black dress; paired with Dorothy red heels, a silver clutch and a chunky silver necklace. Lauper could learn a thing or two from Lucy here.

Selena Gomez

Selena made her entrance at the MTV Video Music Awards wearing this elegant cut-work lace Goth-looking dress. Complimenting her look were gold shoes, a gold clutch and an interesting bracelet. Her make-up was light and fresh.
