HOPES: PPL to help revive international cricket: Lorgat

Former International Cricket Council (ICC) chief executive officer Haroon Lorgat has said the planned Pakistan Premier League (PPL) will help the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) revive international cricket in the country.


Lorgat, who is currently associated with Sri Lanka Cricket, met the top PCB officials in Lahore where he gave his suggestions regarding the PPL which is being planned for March next year.

“The PPL will go a long way in securing confidence of countries,” said Lorgat. “It will be a good step towards revival of international cricket. The participants will encourage other players to come. There is a lot of energy and determination among PCB officials and they are heading in the right direction.”

Lorgat confirmed that he took part in a discussion on the PPL during the meeting.

“I am not a complete expert but can help add value. I will continue to support the PCB’s stance.”

Meanwhile, terming Lorgat a friend of Pakistan cricket, Ashraf thanked the former ICC official for accepting the invitation. He noted that Lorgat, during his tenure in the ICC office, supported Pakistan and the revival of international cricket in the country.
