Commemorating poetry: College celebrates 50 years

The session was presided over by renowned poet Sarfaraz Shahid while Dr Inamul Haq Javed was the chief guest.

PESHAWAR: The Quaid-e-Azam College of Commerce University (CCU) of Peshawar arranged a grand Urdu Mushaira (recitation of poetry) on the occasion of its Golden Jubilee.

The session was presided over by renowned poet Sarfaraz Shahid while Dr Inamul Haq Javed was the chief guest. The event was held at the college auditorium and all current and ex-students participated in large numbers.

The crowd was delighted to hear the humorous poetry from many celebrated poets including Nasir Ali Sayyed, Dr Nazir Tabassum, and Mushtaq Shabad among others. Principal of CCU Dr Syed Muhammad Ishaq gave special award to the first student of the college, Brig (Rtd) Saadul Hadi.

Speaking on the occasion the principal said, the college established in the year 1962, has been imparting quality education with its students serving the country and abroad on key positions.

He said that presently there are more than 700 students enrolled in the college in the BCom and MCom disciplines.
