Crime: Drugs, weapons seized

The airport authorities arrested a passenger and seized a pistol from his possession.

A bid to smuggle narcotics to a foreign country was foiled on Thursday. According to official sources, Kamal, a resident of Mianwali, was arrested from the Benazir Bhutto Airport for allegedly trying to smuggle heroin to Bahrain.


An official said the suspect was about to board his flight (GF-771) when security forces intercepted him and seized 2.5 kilograms of heroin from his luggage.

In another incident, the airport authorities arrested a passenger and seized a pistol from his possession. Sources said that the suspect, a resident of Choa Syedan Shah, was travelling to Qatar via flight number QR-399.

He was arrested when security officials stopped him for inspection at the departure lounge.
