ISLAMABAD:

A total of 18 judges serving in district and sessions court (DSC) may be repatriated following Islamabad High Court’s (IHC) orders to send back judges that do not meet set criteria for seat allocation.

In a verbal order on Wednesday, the court said that 50% of appointments in DSC be from Islamabad, 48% from other provinces and 2% from the Federally Administered Tribal Areas, as dictated by the Judicial Services Rules (JSR) 2011

Justice Shoukat Aziz said that the judges recently appointed on deputation to DSC in violation of JSR 2011 be repatriated, a senior court official said. The judges to be repatriated include District and Sessions Judge (East), Justice Kauser Zaidi and District and Sessions Judge (West) Justice Jawad Hassan.

The petition was filed by Waqas Malik, a lawyer.

On October 2, the bench had reserved its judgment after Malik concluded his arguments. A written order is expected to be issued in two to three days.
