Police recover woman forced into prostitution

Girl was sold by a man who promised to marry her.

Police on Friday night recovered from Ahmedpur East a woman who had been kidnapped and sold into prostitution.


The woman was a resident of Chowk Haratha in Dera Ghazi Khan.

The woman told The Express Tribune that she had developed a friendship with one Awais on the phone. She said he had asked her to marry him and called her to Lahore where she was raped. She said he then told her to accompany him to Ahmedpur to meet his parents and be marrried.

“When we reached Ahmedpur, he sold me to Shahzad Iqbal who lived in the Shahi Mohalla,” she said. “Iqbal forced me into prostitution on gunpoint.”

She said she was raped for three months by ‘clients’ as well as Iqbal. She said another pimp Raqa Badmash, also raped her.

City Station House Officer  Rana Hakim Ali said police had raided the house after an informer told them a woman was being forced into prostitution.

The girl’s father confirmed that she had reached home.
