PESHAWAR:

Police have arrested an imposter posing as a colonel of the ISI who was trying to lease 10 kanals of land in Kaghan.

Addressing a news conference at East Cantt police station, Cantt SP Shabeeh Hussain said that they had arrested a man named Amir Murad, a resident of Rawalpindi, who was trying to obtain a 10 kanal commercial government plot on lease for 99 years.

“Government officials suspected something was amiss about him and informed us so we immediately arrested him,” Hussain said, adding that the man was also able to secure high posts in renowned organisations using fake MBA and PhD degrees from the USA  in the past and was a ‘skilled’ con-man.

“He worked in CitiBank as a regional head, a visiting professor at Muhammad Ali Johar University, an executive vice president in PTCL, a human resources manager at another organisation and as a consultant in Fauji Fertilizers Ltd,” the police official said, adding that an FIR had been registered against the perpetrator for murder, fraud and kidnapping for ransom.
