FAISALABAD:

Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) President Mian Zahid Aslam has hailed a Islamabad High Court judgment which declared the practice of charging for fuel price adjustment (FPA) in electricity bills ‘null and void’.

Aslam said that it was burdensome for consumers to pay FPA charges, and alleged that Nepra had collected billions of rupees from consumers in violation of the latter’s rights.

The FCCI chief also commended the Supreme Court’s verdict directing the government to slash CNG prices by nearly 30%. Aslam demanded the government now cut transport and freight fares in proportion.

He also claimed that the government was fleecing petroleum and CNG consumers by employing pricing formulae which went against the law.
