Two killed in Karachi violence

The deceased were tortured and killed.

KARACHI: Two people were killed in different incidents of violence in Karachi on Tuesday, Express News reported.

A body was recovered from the Kalsi Ground area near Civil Hospital. The police could not identify the deceased, but revealed that his throat was slit.

Another body was recovered in a gunny bag near Crown Cinema in the Mauripur area. Police identified the deceased as Rizwan Akhtar.

The body had torture marks and is reported to have been shot after torture. Police also said that the hands had been tied.

A total of 109 policemen also lost their lives throughout Sindh during the last ten months, with 88 of them being killed in Karachi alone.

According to the HRCP, a total of 1,725 people lost their lives to violence in the city till August, 2012.

A total of 1,724 killings took place in 2011, and 1,742 killings in 1995, the bloodiest year on record with the CPLC. The death toll for the January-August period last year stood at 1,406.
