KARACHI: The Sindh Medical University (SMU) on Monday issued the merit list for admission to its first batch of 350 students and the interview process will commence from Tuesday, October 30, 2012.

Prior to becoming a full fledged university this year, the process of admissions to the Sindh Medical College (SMC) were handled by the Dow University of Health Sciences which also used to award degrees to SMC students.

On Tuesday, the university will conduct interviews of around 470 applicants who have been declared successful in the October 7, 2012, entrance tests. They will be vying for 228 open-merit seats. These interviews will be held at the university between 11am to 3:30pm and applicants have been asked to bring their original academic certificates and identification card along with photocopies.

Meanwhile, interviews of around 430 candidates who had applied on the 37 self-financed seats will be held on Wednesday. The university has decided to offer self-finance seats charging an annual fee of Rs360,000 while students on open-merit seats will only be required to pay Rs26,400 once a year.

As many as 46 seats have been reserved for students hailing from rural Sindh.
