HARIPUR: Three seminary students were killed and 13 were injured when a passenger van overturned after crashing into a tree near the Nikah Pah village on GT Road, some five kilometers away from Haripur, on Monday. Ten of the injured were reported to be in serious condition.

The cause of the accident was a mechanical fault, police and eyewitnesses said.

Police said that a Toyota Hiace, No 1130-Battagram, was carrying students from an Islamabad-based seminary to Mansehra. The front tyres burst open near Nikah Pah and the driver lost control of the speeding vehicle, which overturned after colliding with a tree.

The three dead students were identified as Munawar, Faizan and Jameel.

The bodies and injured were shifted to Women and Children Hospital Haripur. Those reported to be in critical condition were later referred to Ayub Medical Complex, Abbottabad.
