QUETTA: The son of an Express News correspondent was killed in a firing incident in Khuzdar district on Thursday.

Express News reported that a second son of the correspondent was reported to be injured in the incident.

The motive behind the firing still remains unknown.

Earlier in October, a television reporter, Abdul Haq Baloch associated with ARY News, was shot dead 100 yards from the local press club in a Khuzdar town. The 37-year-old reporter was on his way home when the incident took place.

According to New York-based Committee to Protect Journalists, Pakistan was the deadliest country for journalists in 2011 for the second year running.

The committee stated that 46 journalists were killed worldwide last year, of which seven deaths were reported in Pakistan alone.
