Afghan solidarity with Pakistan

Letter October 19, 2012
One must request President Karzai and the governor of Kunar province to help Pakistan arrest Maulana Fazlullah.

PESHAWAR: Recent media reports have said that hundreds and thousands of Afghan students prayed for the early recovery of Malala Yousufzai. Afghan President Hamid Karzai and other administration officials also condemned the attack. This is a welcome gesture on the part of both the Afghan nation and the government. One must request President Karzai and the governor of Kunar province to help Pakistan arrest Maulana Fazlullah who, along with his disciples, has taken refuge in Kunar and Nuristan, and from these safe havens, is poised to stage a comeback in Swat.

During the last 40 years, Pakistan has extended great help to Afghanistan and the Afghan people in their hour of trial. Now, it is their turn to return the favour. President Karzai must realise that Pakistan and its people have suffered the most because of terrorism, even more than Afghanistan. Both countries can eliminate this menace by uniting against it.
