KALAYA: At least 17 suspected militants were killed and more than 20 were injured when a US drone fired missiles at a compound in the Bulandkhel area of Upper Orakzai Agency on Thursday.
An official of the political administration, while confirming the strike, said that a US drone fired four missiles at the compound of Mufti Pir Shakir, killing and injuring his fighters. He added that the attack took place in a remote area sharing its border with the North Waziristan Agency.
The official further said that soon after the attack, the suspected militants surrounded the area and took away the bodies and other injured to an undisclosed location.
On October 10, a similar strike in North Waziristan left five dead.

PTI is against drones as they think that it is extrajudicial killings. In war there are no trials;who tried Malala for promoting western education? Are Hazaras being killed justly? So why demanding rights for these barbarians? Hypocrats!
@Ashraf P: In this world does Allah save only those who are innocent? So if Malala dies (Allah forbid), does that mean that Allah did not save her because she was NOT innocent? Liberal and secular extremism is as condemnable as religious extremism.
US is funding these terrorists and have named them TALIBAN...the real TALIBAN are the ones fighting against the invaders of Afghanistan...People like Raymond Davis are funding and organizing different groups like TTP, PUnjabi TAliban, Jaish Mohammad, Lashkar etc etc to defame Pakistan and to tell the world that it is TALIBAN who are carrying out atrocities in Pakistan, to create hatred against TALIBAN....US wants a total cntrol on Pakistan and Afghanistan....in order to do so they need murderers and killers...name them whatever you want in this case TALIBAN.....Has ever US told us, who died in Drone strikes?? what were their names? if they were terrorists? US wants to instigate normal Pushtuns so that they keep on fighting and US military industrial complex keep profitting from these colonial wars....in which no others but only MUSLIMS are dying with the hands of other Muslims....this is what US wanted and now getting the resuts....
@Sabih Shad: "Can anyone simply name these 17 people who were killed? "
Army does not allow journalists i FATA - surely you know that. Moreover the militants cordon off the area which had drone attack and remove the bodies. Why do that? Why not instead make videos and show that the people killed were young kids - as claimed by many? Also when Imran Khan is scared of the Taliban, do you expect the ordinary tribals who are hostage to these beasts to speak up and say that those killed WERE indeed terrorists? IF they were civilians they would have no one to fear in speaking up and giving press interviews would they?
Adeel: well said. And ice soul: you seems to rely veryyyyyyyy much on news you get from newspaper. i must say you are a brilliant politician(in your own world). our leader is trying to develop this country and liberal thinkers are a very important part of our society said the newspaper. i think u understand what i get.
"SUSPECTED" militants. Drones are judge, jury, and executioner, based on suspicion. We had 22000 murdered in 2010 in entire Pakistan in yr 2010. 2000 out of those weer from terrorism. Can we apply same formula for rest of 20,000 murders and have drone strikes all over cities in Pakistan to kill those"SUSPECTS' . Pretty Please holy drones.!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good job! they deserve even more. Long live NATO.
@Joe:
Funny name for a terrorist sympathiser.
How are we sure that people been killed in drone attack were terrorists. How can we possibly rule innocent victims like Malala. the question why didn't TTP shoot this girl for that long and they just realized she is threat for their value system on anti drone peace march.
To all the so called muslims that support the killing of muslims by american drones. Repent and ask forgiveness from Allah before its too late and you die upon this disbeleif.
(O you who believe! Take not My enemies and your enemies as protecting friends showing affection towards them, while they have disbelieved in what has come to you of the truth,) (60:1). refers to the idolators and the disbelievers who are combatants against Allah, His Messenger and the believers. It is they whom Allah has decided should be our enemies and should be fought. Allah has forbidden the believers to take them as friends, supporters or companions.
Allah the Exalted said in another Ayah (O you who believe! Take not the Jews and the Christians as protecting friends, they are but protecting friends of each other. And if any among you takes them (as such), then surely, he is one of them.) (5:51) This Ayah contains a stern warning and a sure threat.
Allah the Exalted said, (O you who believe! Take not as protecting friends those who take your religion as a mockery and fun from among those who received the Scripture before you, nor from among the disbelievers; and have Taqwa of Allah if you indeed are true believers.) (5:57)
Lets the Drone rock n roll Taliban! A shameful creature
The moderators on this website seem to have a certain agenda. They will only post comments that are in line with their agenda. Allah knows whats in the hearts. To Allah we belong and to Allah we shall return. On the Day of Judgement all will be made apparent.
@shahid: So the women and children who are also getting killed are being punished by Allah? Where is the evidence to say they are even guilty? Just because America says they are gulity? Shame on you "muslims". If you support the killing of any muslims anywhere around the world by the kaffir then you are also responsible for the killing.
Imran khan, the 'Long March' it seems didn't work. How about a Longer March or longest march so on and so forth! Maybe Tsunamis?
@Ashraf P: Your logic is flawed. According to your logic if anyone is killed, it is because they are not innocent. And if they are innocent then Allah will save them? Next time a baby is killed can you say that the baby was not innocent?
Kill the "suspected" militants and then complain about their reaction when they attack anywhere...
Can anyone simply name these 17 people who were killed?
@bangash: I would just say that what happened to malala is shameful, and i see individuals here supporting drone strikes is equally shameful......two wrongs dont make one right.... drones are a violation of all human rights laws and this is a fact pseudo liberals must digest
@Truth Detector:
PTI propaganda. The suicide bombers are those willing to go to heaven for you know what. Kamra attackers were all Punjabis. Don’t know how many have been killed in Punjab due to drones.
Let us pray for taleban and alqaeda so that they come under the protection of drone attacks.
@Only PTI: Why don’t Imran show us those bodies and identify them for us? Because they are terrorists and it would be bad PR to do so.
Excellent work by the Americans. Would be better though if they nuked these tribals once and for all and rid us of this Taliban menace as it is a breeding ground for terrorists. And shame on the people who are against drone strikes. Traitors!!!
where is the actual evidence that these "militants" are guilty? how many women and children have been killed by these drones? Shame on all those who support the killing of muslims by america. Last week thousands supported Imran Khan protest and now you want the drones to continue.
Drones are the only language these barbarians understand. Long live Drones & USA
Drones please keep coming and donot stop.
USA is eliminating these terrorists is far better than the Pak military who is not taking any decisive action against them while these barbarians continue to kill thousand of innocent civilians as well as beheading soldiers repeatedly.
We want More Drones, moredrones and even more drones. Allah is punishing these barbarins for thier bad deeds through drones
Listen you geniuses, how many of you know for sure that there were militants? Thankfully the newspaper has used the word "suspected" otherwise they could just as well have said "drone kills militants".
@sars
10x.. where x is number killed.
Listen you geniuses, how many of you know for sure that there were militants? Thankfully the newspaper has used the word "suspected" otherwise they could just as well have said "drone kills militants".
17 less scumbags, god bless amrica
Verry well done drones... stay there and keep picking these animals.
this attack is different from all other before, its deeper too.I think those who were paid to do more are no more doing that.Let us see how many disagree with this change in target selection.
Don't support terrorists; don't host terrorists.
Then there will be no drones! Why is it so hard to understand? May be you just don't want to understand.
why u dont kil Talibaan in one go
@ADEEL Go ask the Taliban why they targeted Malala now.
drones back in action
10 down, how many to go???
Shame on all of U who are agreeing with drone strikes....May Allah guide U..18 innocent Muslims have died and U are crying for 1 Malala ..what about salala ...
Dajjal means the deceiver and we all are deceived. we are supporting injustice thinking it is a justice
nothing is true everything is permitted
@Roflcopter, Pakistani: Even the political agent, who is a PAKISTANI and also a MUSLIM confirmed that militants surrounded the houses and took away the bodies. How much more confirmation do you guys need?
"US drone fired four missiles at the compound of Mufti Pir Shakir, killing and injuring his fighters."
A mufti (Arabic: مفتي, muftī , Turkish: müftü ) is a Sunni Islamic scholar who is an interpreter or expounder of Islamic law (Sharia and fiqh). In religious administrative terms, a mufti is roughly equivalent to adeacon to a Sunni population. Qualifications A Mufti will generally go through an Iftaa course and the person should fulfill the following conditions set by scholars in order that he may be able to issue verdicts (fataawa). They are eight: 1. Knowing Arabic, and 2. Mastering the science of principles of jurisprudence, 3. Having sufficient knowledge of social realities.Ask the scholar, Islam online. 4. Mastering the science of comparative religions, 5. Mastering the foundations of social sciences, 6. Mastering the science of Maqasid ash-Shari
ah (Objectives of Shari
ah), 7. Mastering the science of Hadith, 8. Mastering legal maxims,What kind of scholar is he? Which school did he go to that taught him religion, weapons training and training fighters? Why are we still calling him mufti? He is just a criminal.
@Pakistani: Allah does know. If they were innocent, he would have saved them. It is obvious that these drones are targeting terrorists.
Where are condemnation now from local, International media, so called human rights activists, Obama, UN head, etc etc ??????????????
state terrorism continues unabated
Chalo Drones. Avenge Malala for us.
Good job.carry on please.
This is really strange, these strikes have escalated again after Malala, and the wave of hatred recently against drones has just vanished. Just ponder for a moment, Malala and her campaign have been there since the last 3 years. It isn't today that she started working for the right of education for girls. She could have been targeted anytime in the past 3 years, but was not. So why NOW? but we are emotional bunnies and we are manipulated so easily
After the Malala incident, Not only do I thank the people who support the Drones but also thank the Govt. of US and the persons operating the Drones. Taliban does nor deserve any human treatment, Eye for an eye is the only language they understand. These animals should be bombed till they learn to live by Gods rules.
Meanwhile elsewhere 'Bomb strapped to donkey kills four in Orakzai' wonder who is protesting against that.
Well done! This is for Malala and thousands of innocent people these animals have harmed.
