QUETTA: Governor Balochistan Nawab Zulfiqar Ali Magsi denied that any military operation was underway in the troubled province, instead, maintaining peace was the responsibility of the provincial government.

While talking to participants of the National Management Course at the Governor House on Tuesday, the governor dispelled the notion that operations were being carried out in Balochistan.

The governor said that maintenance of law and order in Balochistan was a provincial subject and that the provincial government would work to ensure safety of the citizens.

Magsi blamed negligence of previous governments for contributing to a general sense of deprivation among the people of the province. However, he pointed towards the incumbent government’s Aghaz-e-Haqooq-e-Balochistan stimulus package as a means of redress.

Nawab Magsi said that unless Gawadar is connected to the rest of the country through rail and road networks, the port would not be able to have a positive impact on the economy.

Mr Magsi is the man of honor and has the guts to speak his heart without fear or favor.
