Government unveils health package for AJK

2,270 new posts created in the State Health Department.

The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) government on Friday unveiled a grand health package for the state which included the creation of 2,270 new posts in the health department, despite a looming financial crisis.


The package was announced by AJK Prime Minister Chaudhry Abdul Majeed at a press conference in Muzaffarabad.

Prime Minister Majeed said that the health package was a gift for the people of AJK.

“This grand health package will help us cope with major issues in the health sector. Modern equipment will be installed in hospitals and shortage of medicine will no longer be a problem,” Majeed maintained.

The AJK premier assured that the package would be duly implemented and relief will be provided to the people with the best of efforts from the government.

He lauded the efforts of his health minister and said that the credit must be given to Sardar Qamar Zaman.

Highlighting the salient features of the health package, Zaman stated that notification of the approval of the package has already been issued.

For now, he said, 1,082 new positions have been opened, whereas 727 professionals will be hired in the next phase and another 500 vacancies will be announced in the third and final phase.

“After the establishment of the AJK government, we have created 1,780 new posts in two medical colleges and the third one is in progress,” Zaman proclaimed.

The health minister claimed that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) government is doing its level best to implement the election manifesto that it had promised to the people of AJK and the health package was one of the promises which it fulfilled.
