PALLEKELE: With a stellar batting performance, Pakistan managed to defeat Bangladesh by eight wickets. The national team brilliantly chased the 176 runs target in a decisive match of the World T20 tournament at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Sri Lanka.

With this defeat, Bangladesh is out of the tournament, while Pakistan has secured its place in the Super Eights.

Earlier, Shakib al Hasan, with his brilliant 84 runs off 54 balls,  helped Bangladesh post a total of 175 runs.

With 22 fours and three sixes, the first innings was a show of high-powered batting on the part of the Bengal Tigers.

Earlier, Bangladesh won the toss and chosen to bat in its second and must win match on Tuesday against Pakistan
A win for the greenshirts would see them secure a position in the Super 8s. They have made no changes to the team composition.

The teams are:
Pakistan:
Mohammad Hafeez (capt), Imran Nazir, Nasir Jamshed, Kamran Akmal (wk), Umar Akmal, Shoaib Malik, Shahid Afridi, Yasir Arafat, Sohail Tanvir, Umar Gul, Saeed Ajmal.

pakistan are looking very weak with these 3rd rate seamers like arafat and tanvir. Even gul is bowling like a schoolboy. Pakistan might make it through but at this rate they will get slaughtered by strong line ups like south africa

Pakistan needs minimum 140 runs to be alive in the tournament. If fails minister for railways will issue bounty on the heads of BD players.

Good win for Pakistan however it was most surprising to see its top bowlers being taken to cleaners by lowly ranked BD which would hearten our Zaheer and Balajee.

Although Pakistan reached super eights, I predict its dark results in the round as follows:

-Pak lose to India ……………………. on political basis
-Pak lose to Australia ………………. on match fixing basis
-Pak lose to South Africa ………….. on genuine basis

Sorry, for being a spoiler. With this standard of bowling, forget about winning the world cup. How come Bangladesh was able to score 175 against what was perceived to be Pakistan’s strength?

@Truth Detector You’re missing the point here. Pakistani bowlers don’t usually give so many runs to any opposition but when they did, their batters could not chase that. Now when their bowling is not in good form, the batsmen are showing responsibility and playing like they seldom do.
Nevertheless, I hope the bowlers get their rhythm back and batsmen keep doing well, and win the world cup this time.

I don’t understand the logic behind taking Abdul Razzaq to SL. He should have been given the chance and hopelessly hopeless bowlers like Tanvir and Yasir Arafat should be left out.

The victory was pretty impressive. However, the Pakistan team rarely functions as a unit. Some days the bowlers come good but the batsmen flop. When batters are doing well they are let down by either the bowling or fielding. Coaches have come and gone but the inconsistency and unpredictability of the team remains constant. Nevertheless congratulations for making it to the Super8.

surely a poor bowling display by pakistan..sohail tanvir has no right to be a part of this team..he is a poor fielder and has poor control on his bowling..i think junaid khan or abdur razak should be considered instead..kamral akmal again missed a dolly behind the stumps..this can prove fatal in the group of death…good to see shahid afridi improvement

Please to know that we are 100% losing all three mathches “IF” we are playing with the current bowlers. Sohail Tanvir, he cant feild, take catch or bowl in four overs his stamina looks like he have bowled 10Overs. Need to kick him out and get “JUNAID KHAN”. Trust me he will make the impact and selector know that, its just he is from Karachi, Sindh that’s why he is not being selected. From past few months i have been requesting please induct him on SOS basis nobody listen.
Get JUNAID KHAN & HAMMAD AZAM IN TEAM!
Otherwise automaticly Tanvir carrers ENDS along with HAfeez if Team Pak lose all three matches as well the selectors.
Bowlers should be in Team for T20 WC:
    Ajmal
    Junaid
    Afridi (All Rounder)
    Gul
    Hafeez (All Rounder)
    Arafat (All Rounder)
    .
If they cannot get Juanid then replace TANVIR WITH ABDUR RAZZAK!!!!!!Recommend

Oh Come On Guys you all Must know it is Impossible to WIN with any of TOP TEAMS.
Only Allah can make it happen, I don’t expect Win from our Pakistani Team.
Look they are not taking players on merit basis, they have political influence, Grouping, Match Fixing, Poor Fielding, Poor Wicket Keepering, No Pace, No Bowlers, No Proper Batsmen (Except Hafeez & Nasir).
How can you expect Win… As this county is only running by ALLAH same goes for Pak Cricket Team.
    .
We all must know in 1992 we had a best team for ODI, Then in 1999 Wasim Akram & Co all got Fixed and lost the match, Then at Younus Khan Time we Won T20 WC, We almost Won under captaincy of Afridi then our PM went to India and all Got Fixed and Afridi quits from Captaincy.
History is Clear Both World Cup we have won with battleship and Hard work with honesty.
If we have Honesty, Unity, Hard work as a TEAM we can beat Any Team/Country in this world because Allah will be with us.
I Wish Good Luck to Team Pakistan!
    Jevey Jevey Pakistan!
