KARACHI: This refers to your editorial “Karachi fire and after” (September 14). A very comprehensive and correct analysis has been made in it regarding the deadliest fire disaster in Pakistan’s history. One can only hope that the unfortunate families of these 300 victims are compensated, both by the government and also by the factory owner, who is still at large. Similarly, one hopes that the investigation by the government to find out the causes of the fire is conducted honestly and the culprits are given exemplary punishment.
However, it may be noted that sadly the government has taken this grave tragedy as a routine emergency and the president and the prime minister did not even bother to visit the burnt factory or the families of the victims for condolence. What a sad state of affairs indeed.
