Poets and poetry: Book on Mirza Ghalib’s work launched

The book launch was presided over by the organisation’s president, Aftab Ahmed Khan.

The Anjuman-e-Taraqqi-e-Urdu Pakistan launched the fourth edition of “Diwan-e-Ghalib Kamil”‚ composed in chronological order by Kali Das Gupta Raza, who is known for his work on the poetry of Mirza Asadullah Khan Ghalib (1797-1869).


The book launch was presided over by the organisation’s president, Aftab Ahmed Khan.

“Galib’s verses help cultivate a strong sense of perseverance in an individual,” said Khan, adding that more than 80 exegesis of Ghalib’s work had been published.

The Anjuman’s honorary secretary general, Syed Azfar Rizvi, said that the first-ever edition of Gupta Raza’s book, also known as “Nuskha-e-Raza”, was published in 1990, followed by a second edition in 1994 and a third in 1996.

The general edition of the book available in the market has only 1,802 verses while this edition features around 4,209 verses.
