Ephedrine case: ANF arrests pharma owner, recovers 500kg of drug

LAHORE: The Anti Narcotics Force (ANF) arrested the chief executive officer (CEO) of a pharmaceutical company and recovered large amounts of Ephedrine, Express News reported on Sunday.

ANF officials said that the force managed to arrest the owner of the company, who was wanted in the ephedrine chemical case, in a raid and shifted him to an undisclosed location.

The accused faces charges of having obtained 500kg ephedrine illegally, which was recovered from him during the raid.

An FIR was registered against the owner on July 25.

ANF officials said that search operations were being conducted for others wanted in the case.

    500kg ephedrine! The point is that person has obtained it illegally, most probably for drug trafficking reasons. What I find confusing is that now people might think that ephedrine equals drug traffic, even if producing ephedrine for common medicines is legal and normal for a pharmaceutical company in most countries. Again, due to a minority of persons, what could be a relief to millions of people is becoming a dangerous drug. It always amazes me how hard it is to build a better world, and how easy it is to make it worse…
