News Desk September 05, 2012

England Women beat Pakistan Women by 81 runs to seal the two-match Twenty20 series 2-0.

After losing the opening match by seven wickets on Tuesday, Pakistan failed to bounce back and first saw England rack up 162 for seven in the allotted quota before being restricted to 81 for five.

Despite losing wickets at regular intervals – England’s highest partnership was for the second wicket boasting 55 runs – the hosts kept the scoreboard ticking at the Haslegrave Ground, Loughborough.

Asmavia Iqbal took four for 36 but the rest of the bowlers were punished. Danielle Wyatt made a quickfire 41 off just 29 deliveries, while Sarah Taylor hit a 17-ball 35.

In reply, Pakistan batters failed miserably. Failing to meet the required rate, Bismah Maroof (29) and captain Sana Mir (24) were content in playing out the overs.
