QUETTA: An irked Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry told the Inspector General of Frontier Corps (IGFC) and the chief secretary to admit they had failed in Balochistan, adding that the governor would be summoned once they had done so, Express News reported on Wednesday.

The chief justice made these remarks in the Quetta Registry of the Supreme Court, while hearing the case pertaining to enforced disappearances and law and order situation in Balochistan.

He was heading a three-member bench which included Justice Khilji Arif Hussain and Justice Jawwad S Khawaja.

In the previous day’s hearing, a visibly angry chief justice said that Attorney General Ifran Qadir would not be allowed to enter the court without prior permission.

He had also summoned the federal secretaries for interior and defence on Wednesday to apprise the court of steps taken to improve law and order in the province.

    CJ is requested to look into the three million cases outstanding and awaiting decision in Supreme Court of Pakistan. News Papers headings will not help the people of Pakistan. They are looking for an admission from Judiciary, that they have not been able to do their duty and have wasted much of their time in sizzling remarks.

    Keeping on dragging them in courts every day, release whosoever they capture, bash them for every terrorist which disappears and then blame them for failure. Kya kehnay!

    I’m as disappointed at him as many of Pakistanis are for not giving clear cut decisions on many cases BUT there has been no CJ in past who could even say one word against different institutions, even against the army! You guys will remember him once he retires next year like you guys remember Musharaf after suffering the wrath of the so called democratically elected PPP :) let him retire, show him some patience like you guys show patience to this corrupt government who is the real culprit.

    Strangely the CJ is requesting others to admit mistakes rather than passing judgement to punish for the mistakes!! The CJ is playing safe..maybe he wants to come into politics next year.

    ..what do you Guys want from the SC / CJ…if notice taken it is not appreciated, if not taken you it is expected that notice for detriorating law & order shud hv been taken..? what do you guys want…seriously, something wrong with you all….no court cases on such important issue are resolved in a day, wherein those responsible defy court orders by absenting & if the court takes action on exparte basis ( which they can ) , you guys will surely say ” it is a one-sided decision of the court without hearing the other party “…? so, what do you guys want ?

    - Is this issue of Baluchistan not important ? if not…then let it burn, but remember your own house will not remain safe.

    - Judiciary was forced to take suo moto notice on Baluchistan law & order bcz the citizens hv lost faith in the govt & politicians as they hv not resolved the issue nor there is peace in the area….

    Under the circumstances…those bloggers who are constantly bashing the judiciary…what do you want ? let Baluchistan burn & disintegrate..? give solutions instead of critisizing the judiciary for taking action which the politiciians / govt & parliament has failed to do….Recommend

    How can one expect justice from someone who has not been able to enforce law in his own 1 canal house (the CJ house)?

    strong textThe soap opera run by the Supreme Court of Pakistan has become too boring and repetitive.
    Courts are the biggest failure amongst all the institutions of Pakistan. I would rate them below Police, FBR and somewhere in line with Railways, WAPDA or PIA.
    They have a pendency of 3 Million cases in Supreme Court alone. These Judges are incompetent to handle routine cases in routine time, how come they can manage such a mammoth list.
    If one judge could decide two cases in a weak, the seventeen judges court will be able to handle 17x2x52= 1768 cases in a year, without going on leave and participating in all other extracurricular activities. So there is hardly any possibility for a common man to see a decision in his life time.
    To resolve three million cases without adding a single more, it will take these 17 Judges 1744 years to clear these cases. SO WHAT IS THE USE OF A SUPREME COURT?

    Pakistani law is the main hurdle in executing justice. CJ should fix the law first. Security forces catch or kill terrorists and our courts release them because of lack of “evidence”. Culprits come out and kill innocent people again. Common Pakistani needs relief from these thugs. So killing them is must. If they are not killed, they will continue killing innocent Pakistani citizens. Give Pak securities full power to eliminate all those negative forces which are working against Pakistan.

    @A J Khan:
    Please get your facts rights ( I guess you get all this false information from faisal abidi). The 3 million figure is not correct. About 2.7 million cases are pending in TOTAL including highcourts and lower courts. Less than 10% are pending in supreme court. This figure is better than India which has 30 mil cases pending !
    So stop trying to malign the judiciary which is probably the only institution which is trying its best to eradicate corruption. It’s not perfect but probably the only institution working for the betterment of the country.

    @A:
    Even if we go by your stats, 10% would also make a staggering figure of 300000. it will still require 200 years for the supreme court to clear these cases if no more cases are added to it. So do you see any utility of these courts ?
    This drama of justice should die.
    It does not have the capacity to deliver justice. We need to bring reforms to the judicial system and must finish organizations which cannot deliver. I can see Supreme Court and high Courts parked in Privatization commission for sale. Although justice is still sold while it is a public sector Organization. (Institution has a different definition)
