Fashion Police: The hotch potch

This socialite (picture 1) was spotted at the launch of Misha Lakhani’s clothing line.

Where we can’t admire her enough for her guts to pose so perfectly in front of the camera, she has invited an unfathomable amount of our wrath by putting together an ensemble that reminds of the song “Anarkali Disco Chalo” — which is not a compliment.

Hair

We don’t mind the soft curls on this socialite but the very fact that this hairdo is adding years to her age is annoying. The hairstyle tells the sad tale of too much product — what on earth are those red streaks?

Make-up

Rule of thumb for ladies: do not wear heavy black eye shadow if you have thick brows. Even though we envy people who can pull off the wolfy, thick brow look, we still hate to see them wear black shadow with their already overbearing eyebrows. Tip for our socialite here is to either make her brows thinner or go for a less dense eye make-up next time.

Outfit

This ensemble makes us want to cry. Nobody wears long kurtas with ‘slit wali’ jeans and such confused shoes to a high-end fashion event. In the time of jeggings, coloured denim and palazzos, why would someone walk of the house in this? The wrinkled monotone kurta, the jeans from pre-fashion times and the dreadful, larger than life bag make us want to put her in a makeover machine.

Accessories

The silver bangles and dull bag make are just about the last nail in the coffin as far as her fashion sense goes. The fashion magazines and sites can’t scream enough that gold cuffs are the in thing and the Pakistani bangles must come out either annually on Eid or on family functions. This odd mix of east and west has made us more nauseous than a rollercoaster ever did.

This guest (picture 2-a) spotted at the launch of Debenhams at Dolmen Mall Clifton probably read the guide to acing spring fashion like 50 times. We absolutely love the floral, cutesy shoulder bag while her yellow straight cut kurta paired with palazzos tells us that style comes to her naturally.

Another guest (picture 2-b) at the launch of Misha’s clothing line impressed us by pulling off this classic look. The high waisted pants, the bottle green jacket and the cute black moccasins have us falling in love. She looks effortless yet right on trend and that ‘devil may care’ bun has us believing that she put together this stunning number in a matter of five minutes.

This kurta (picture 2-c) is the perfect mix of simplicity and glamour. The guest was on our fashion crush list before we even realised that she is wearing something as simple as a red straight cut kurta with white pyjamas. The pearl necklace and the Lucknow pyjamas paired with black chappals and that scrumptious Louis Vuitton managed to make a statement without looking over the board. This guest has our vote for her clean fashion sense!
