The All India Tennis Association (AITA) dropped Mahesh Bhupathi and Rohan Bopanna from the Davis Cup team, sending out a strong message that indiscipline of any sort will not be tolerated by the association.
The decision to drop the duo was taken after it was involved in the pre-Olympics controversy where both refused to play with Leander Paes, insisting on being paired together for the men’s doubles event in London.
The Indian team is set to clash with New Zealand in the Davis Cup scheduled for September 14-16, according to the Hindustan Times. Paes was not considered after the veteran made himself unavailable for the tie.

VVS Laxman: A Very Very Sad announcement
Sir, The action initiated against Mahesh and Bopanna by the AITA is greatly appreciated. Good days are ahead for the youngster to prove their mettle. Sania Mirza was also involved in the pre-olympics controversies. She should also be axed forthwith.
