Wayamba United registered their second successive win in the Sri Lankan Premier League, defeating Uva Next by 20 runs at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium yesterday.
Despite Jacob Oram’s three for six in four economical overs, United were able to post a competitive 147 for nine. Kamran Akmal made 36 off 32 deliveries, while Milinda Siriwardana (28) and Kaushalya Weeraratne (24) helped the team’s cause.
Oram was the pick of the bowlers and Gul also picked up two wickets but gave away 48 runs in his four overs.
In reply, Uva Next never got going, losing wickets at regular intervals before being bundled out for 127 in the 19 over. Chathuranga Kumara picked up three wickets.
