Another sectarian massacre
RAWALPINDI: This is with reference to your editorial “Another sectarian massacre” (August 17). It is a huge shame that our law-enforcement agencies, government and intelligence agencies have continually failed to deal with extremists/murderers, who it seems are hell-bent on eliminating all those who do not follow their version of faith.
The way these extremist groups act with no fear of being punished for their cruelties, is a clear indication of the state’s inability to protect its innocent citizens. Our lives in general, and lives of Shias, Ahmadis, Christians and Hindus in particular, are not safe in Pakistan anymore.

Moon-sighting — a persistent controversy
It is ,I say, unfortunately considered in Pakistan that government and other agencies have failed to counteract terrorism .Because it is not only them who are involved in this pseudo and self-imposed war, real defeat has actually been meted out to foreign powers involved in this interest-orientated and ruthless anti-terrorism.
Secondly, versions of faith have nothing much to do.It is a front,a dissimulation of the actual.Islamic liberalism and conservatism are not much disparate ;if logically viewed ,holders of both versions can come to terms. It is owing to the fact that neither Islamic liberalism can break totally with Islamic fundamentals nor Islamic conservatism can shut it’s eyes to modernity.
In one sense ,this disparity is created rather than it’s being fateful and predestined.
