First preference to local people

Published: August 16, 2012

DAHARKI: District Ghotki has been blessed with natural resources. It has two urea plants, one of which is Asia’s largest. It also has the second largest gas-producing national company as well as three power plants, which are contributing towards the national economy and earning billions of rupees a year.

The people of Ghotki have always supported the establishment of such projects in their area. Unfortunately, the role played by the managements of all these companies has not served the best interests of the local population. Hundreds of engineering graduates from Ghotki are jobless despite the presence of companies in the area who could do so much to alleviate their positions. While these companies do not think twice about using the resources of the area, they have done little to provide employment to the residents of Ghotki. It is the need of the hour to have some sort of a quota for the local people so that they can improve their penurious lives.

Unfortunately, the locals since creation of the country, are being treated as second class citizens particularly in Sindh.Recommend

nice article fahim but there is one stamp that sindhis are not working spending more time out side homes like hotels and other places and their innocnet women working and earning for the good life.
i have seen many sindhi’s who are well qualified and intelligent having good jobs in such sectors, and givernemnt of sindh has only one task how to be in the government they have no concern about the province education and other problems.
