Gang of robbers busted, weapons recovered

Police arrested five suspects when they were planning a robbery.

The Rawalpindi police on Monday arrested five suspected robbers in a successful raid at Darbar Shah Piyara within the limits of Westridge Police Station and recovered arms and ammunition from their possession.


This was disclosed by Potohar Division Superintendent of Police Syed Haseeb Shah at a press conference. Station House Officer (SHO) Malik Allah Yar and other members of the raiding party were present alongside him.

SP Shah said the police received information that five suspected robbers were at Darbar Shah Piyara from where they were planning a robbery. Sub Inspector Abbas Shah then led the raid in which all five suspects were nabbed, the SP said, adding that two 30 bore pistols, seven bullets and a dagger were also recovered from their possession.

The robbers, identified as Nauman, Habib, Umer, Zeeshan and Waqar, were shifted to the police station for further interrogation.

Meanwhile, the Mandra police busted a gambling den and arrested five men besides recovering Rs37,075 stake money, playing cards and a mobile phone that had also been put on stake by the gamblers. The nabbed men were identified as Sajid, Nadeem, Ajmal, Mohtebar and Amir. A case has been registered against them.
