PESHAWAR:

An activist of the banned Lashker-e-Islam was injured in crossfire with police in Sheikhan village. According to police, three militants tried to snatch a car at gunpoint but their attempt was thwarted when police fired at them, injuring one and forcing them to flee towards Khyber Agency.

“Normally, they snatch a vehicle and one of their men drives it out of the area, but this time police forced them to escape,” said police official Misri Khan. Militants left behind a motorcycle. Following the incident, militants came back to attack the police which resulted in another crossfire lasting 20 minutes. Militants managed to escape after the attack. Four days ago, militants kidnapped four transporters in this area, which are still with them.
