DI KHAN:

Seven members of a family were injured in Dot Kuch Kot as the roof of their house caved in on Wednesday.

The injured were identified as Umar Daraz, 45, his wife Shamshad Bibi, 35, and their children Sana, 7, Sheryar, 11, Fawad, 16, Haseena Bibi, 4 and Khasneen, 8.

They were trapped beneath the debris and were rescued with the help of neighbours. They were taken to the District Headquarters Hospital, where their condition is stated to be stable.

Meanwhile, about 22 houses were flooded with rainwater in Jando Khel, about 7km west of the Bannu city. Boundary walls of some of the affected houses collapsed, while entire rooms were destroyed in others.

“I came across the Jando Khel area and saw the people in frenzy, trying to protect household items from rainwater,” Salim Khan, a resident told The Express Tribune. Water also accumulated in different parts of the Bannu Bazaar, causing difficulties for commuters, especially those going to nearby mosques for morning prayers.

While the rain brought destruction in some areas of the district, some rejoiced as the weather turned pleasant

The locals, especially children, seemed to be overjoyed by the change in weather. The area was hot and humid a day earlier, with temperature soaring as high as 40 degree Celsius.
