Empowerment: DCO chairs meeting on gender reform

Bhakkar DCO Muhammad Asif Qureshi issued on Saturday gave detailed instructions to the district steering committee on the Gender Reforms Action Plan.


Chairing a biannual meeting of the committee, he said it must determine the needs for implementing the policy for various occupational groups.

Rana Shahid Mahmood, a gender specialist, elaborated various aspects of the policy. He said that the Bhakkar City police station was about to complete a Gender Policing Centre.

He said a consultation would be held with police and lawyers on medico-legal certification. He said day care centres were also going to be created in various government departments to aid female officers. He said these centres will be created in departments where there were more than five female offices.

Qureshi said the committee should ensure adequate coordination to achieve the objectives of the package.
