Imran rules out alliance with parties in Parliament

ISLAMABAD:

Reiterating his stance for a solo flight, Imran Khan on Tuesday ruled out alliance with any of the parties sitting in parliament.

Talking to reporters, he said Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf might negotiate with the parties which are not present in the current assemblies, but clarified that such an arrangement, if any, will be made at the time of elections.

After 15 years of struggle PTI has emerged as a party with popular support among youth. It is holding talks with Jamaat-e-Islami for cooperation in the upcoming national polls, but these negotiations have not reached any conclusion so far.

He said the ruling alliance and the opposition both are resisting change.

PTI chairman criticised the leadership of Pakistan Peoples Party and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz for holding behind-the-scene negotiations for a caretaker set-up before elections without consulting the other parties.

“The other parties are also stakeholders. For an impartial caretaker set-up their input is equally important,” he added.

Khan said that his party was ready for polls whenever they are announced and would field ‘clean’ candidates in every constituency.

He announced a tsunami peace march to the militancy-hit Waziristan on September 23, in which he claimed 100,000 people would participate.

Current lot of parties in government at the provincial and federal level have only one agenda and that is to stick to power and loot public of their possession. They have lost credibility. There is no point in coalition with them as it means compromise on goals.

JI and PTI would be natural allies in the next elections. Both are out of the assemblies and both have cooperated in the past as well and have a lot in common on many issues.

PTI is a failed party. Rejected persons of big parties are joining PTI. Corrupt people become clean after joining PTI. Strange.

@Jaffar..yes strange for me to understand your logic also..This is first time in the history of Pakistan where people are leaving power..leaving NA seats..leaving ministries..to join a party who dont have a single seat and as per people like you dont have any chance of coming in to power..so in this country where people change loyalties after winning the elections to get power or do corruption..is it hard for you to understand that this is the beginning of revolution..People join parties for power..what kind of guarantee is there for these people who are joining PTI that it will come to power..on the other hand you have the big political mafias who have taken the whole politcal setup of Pakistan hostage for the last so many decades..I humbly advice to all my country man that please for once leave the personal liking disliking..leave old corrupt politcal mafias…and just once only once think of your country..your children..grand children..what kind of Pakistan you want to give them…I request all PPP…PML N..MQM..ANP and other parties workers..sympathizers…just once trust this change..let him come in to power…then if PTI fails I will be with you to criticize it..but for GOD sake give them one chance….

Any alliance with JI or other extremist forces will prove catastrophic for PTI & will be heart breaking for the youngsters in the party. Instead the PTI think tank should brainstorm joining other progressive forces at regional level.

Avoiding short cuts & traditional power politics but self belief , forthrightness will lead the party to the glory at right time.

@gulmina: why imran should take polio vaccination? Is Zardari or CM and Governor of KP dead?

@Sane Voice: Yes he is sure. But are you sure to vote this time around and won’t just enjoy a mere holiday on the election day?

@Mirza: JI and PTI are not natural allies and have very different approach to issues just like any other Party. So keep your between the line views to yourself…

Every Politician not in assembly seems very honest and moral because they have nothing to lose and no stake in the system. If the opposition resigns, Zardari will hold by-elections and probably get 2/3rd majority with no sweat. Then we really be in deep hole. (assumption: opposition resignation means by-elections).

And Dear IK, we know you blame everything on PML -N instead of PPP because your target vote bank is current PML-N’s vote bank. I know you have every right to get that vote bank but this is only strengthening PPP which we all know is not very good for our country. Like you have no issues buddying up with the defected ones, maybe consider alliance with lesser evil should be okay too.

PTI emerged and distinguished from other currupt and conservative parties in the start. To most people PTI is a well thoughtout idea to put Pakistan on right track. Only educated, well informed, progressive minded and honest people shoulder represent PTI and Pakistan. By letting people from other parties joint PTI or establishing ties with these parties will kill the soul of this idea. Imran Khan shoulder be aware of this fact. Otherwise it will huge disappointment to people of Pakistan.
