LAHORE: The Difa-e-Pakistan Council (DPC), holding an All Parties Conference (APC) on Saturday, said that its long march against the Nato supply resumption will be a show of “Islamic force” and a step ahead to rid the country of the US forces.
The DPC leaders, speaking to the media at a private hall in Lahore, announced final arrangements of the long march, which is expected to reach Islamabad in two days. The conference was hosted by the Jamatud Dawa (JuD) and chaired by DPC chairman Maulana Samiul Haq.
While the conference was attended by several religious parties, head of Awami Muslim League Sheikh Rasheed also participated in the conference as the only politician. Former Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) chief Hameed Gul and three former brigadiers, Nadir Mir, Hamid Saeed and Muhammad Hanif, were also present at the event.
The DPC chairman termed the supply resumption as an “insult to the Parliament for not keeping in view its recommendations”. On behalf of the APC participants, he demanded that the government step down.
JuD chief Hafiz Muhammad Saeed boasted that the DPC had a great role in the prolonged suspension of the Nato supply routes after the Salala incident, and added that the party will cleanse the region of the US forces once and for all. “I have apprehensions that if the Nato supply route is reopened, suicide attacks would start again and the US would make it a plea to prolong its stay in the region.”
Former ISI chief Hameed Gul added that the opening of supply routes would give America the power to attack any area of Pakistan in return for any damage to its material. The presence of the US is to keep China away from Pakistan, de-nuclearise, de-militarise and divide it, he added.
On the other hand, the leader of a DPC member party Tehreek Ghalba-e-Islam, Qari Mansoor Ahmed said that the blockade of Nato supplies would be a “real step to favour the Taliban”, and added that his party is fighting along the Taliban in Afghanistan against the US forces. “Cutting the supply line is an effective tool of jihad which we must attain.”
Haq, giving the details of the long march, said that they would proceed towards Islamabad through GT Road, starting from Nasir Bagh, Lahore, on Sunday at 10am. On Sunday night, the rally will reach Gujrat and would reach D Ground in Islamabad on July 9.
The DPC had also called Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N), Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) and Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (Fazl) to the APC, but they all refused the invitation.

Decision between the two countries, Pakistan and the United States regarding reopening over land supply routes into Afghanistan may be a slight boost for Washington Islamabad ties.,but there is much more tough stages a head,as United States has to set its plans to withdraw from Afghanistan,by the end of 2014.
They successfully implement their plan?impossible.after their departure any government except Taliban will not face the circumstances.

Civilian Government of Pakistan has lost the will to govern, rather it has no power to govern. Things are goimg the what Difa-e-Pakistan Council (DPC) wants. For a short duration a pawn, Imran Khan, being popular, may move to kings position but finally Hafiz Saeed will be their. At present also, he is the de facto ruler with army behind his back. Nobody listens to Zardari or Jalil Jilani.

Its sad that if some secular, moderate party like the ANP tried to stage a counter protest in favor of NATO routes, they would be targeted, killed, kidnapped and threatened by these Taliban wannabes.

I am surprised to see so many different views here. Okay everyone has right to his/her views but i would like to comment on views by few people here who i feel don’t have any idea about what is going on in Pakistan. These people belonging to upper class have nothing to worry about. They live in high society and feel pride in wearing western clothes and they speak English as if the words of God. The rich aunties who have all the time busy buying new dresses and watching dramas etc. Their kids buying cars and branded items and gadgets. How do they know about the reality?
My question to all of upper class is: Have you ever lived one day without eating? Have you ever lived one day without electricity or have you ever lost any family member to a bomb blast or in a drone attack?? I wish it never happens to anyone though!
The people who protest have suffered a lot and that is why they are out in streets. Who are you to criticize them? You live in your homes decorated with all foreign items. I am not saying that you shouldn’t, what i mean is that you have no right to criticize others. You have no IDEA what they are going through. We all dream that Pakistan should become literate society but those are literate people who are looting Pakistan not the illiterate ones. So i would prefer illiterate Pakistan but the one with love for their country!
Pray that our beloved Pakistan don’t have to suffer more otherwise i fear that these people will take revenge against upper class.
As someone has said: “PUT UP or SHUT UP”
Hopefully this period passes soon, Inshallah!Recommend

101% Agreed to Mr. Saeed, Our society has such a big vacuum between the rich and the lower class citizens. Rich give a dart to whatever troubles the poorer have to face, its not their problem, they just want them to get lost and never talk back.
It really is astonishing that how so many people are writing in favour of Opening NATO Routes. We are no colony to USA, why should we give them the way to move their ammunition and kill our Muslim Brothers? Isn’t it against our religion, our ethics, our brotherhood.?

Dear Saeed,
The people is sovereign to protest. But in the present situation the people is not protesting by itself; it is responding to the call of “Maollana Samiul Haq”. In the name of Islam the Maullana is using the people for his own benefit and greed.
Who is Maullana Samiul Haq?
“Maullana Samiul Haq, head of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam of Pakistan is a god-father of Taliban and he is producing Taliban for killing Afghans since decades in his maddrassa’s in Pakistan.”
“A few years ago a ‘sex scandal’ involving Maulana Samiul Haq with a woman called ‘Madam Tahira’ of Islamabad rocked the Pakistani and some world press:”

I don’t understand why everyone against the idea of drones. Drones are incredible technology and kill terrorists with minimal loss civilian life. Far fewer civilians have been killed by drones than by ground troops. There is no question of sovereignty violation if terrorists are hiding in the country. USA has a right to go after those who attack the country.

When PTI does not participate it is mentioned. When PTI sends its VP who sits on its dais, that is also mentioned. When a PTI President praises DPC and says that he had even suggested the name for the organization , that is mentioned. IT is not media which is confused – it is PTI that appears to have revised its stance with regards to DPC. ET is unbiased and simply reports facts. It is you who wants one type of news to be suppressed and another type to be emphasized.

Very good work, Just two points for effectiveness:
DeP should engage people against all other issues instead of making selective protests.
Any protests should have banners in English as well. This will definitely enhance our prospective in international media.
