ABBOTABAD:

A woman and her five-year-old son were injured when they fell off a dislocated trolley of Ayubia chairlift on Wednesday, police and witnesses said.

Police said the pulley of one of the trolleys detached from the overhead rope and the two fell as it overturned. The lift had just left the loading area and had covered a few yards when the accident happened. “The fall was no more than 10 feet,” said an eyewitness.

The two were taken to Ayub Medical Complex. The woman had received a spinal injury and was shifted to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences in Islamabad. Her son did not receive major injuries, doctors said.

Officials of the Galliyat Development Authority were not immediately available for a comment.

However, Abbottabad DCO Syed Imtiaz Shah said he had ordered a probe into the incident.

The chairlift resumed operations about two weeks back after being renovated for Rs3.5 million, which took about three months.
