ISLAMABAD: This is with reference to your editorial “Protesting doctors” (July 3). We doctors do not have access to millions of rupees to buy air time on TV channels to get our point across. Here, I would just like to present some facts.
Our strike for a better service structure was a peaceful one. All patients in emergency wards were being treated until the ‘democratic’ Punjab government started arresting doctors and brutally tortured them. One of those doctors is now in a critical condition and is on a ventilator. Around 350 doctors are currently being harassed in prisons. Female doctors were forced to leave their hostels at 2:00 am.
Who will be ready to work under these circumstances? It is extremely unfortunate that the media is not showing our side of the story at all and we seem to be getting blamed for a situation that was not of our making.

Although two wrongs do not make one right. It is the paagaly aala who is pushing doctors to corner. He will be treated in UAE or USA and poor public will bear the brunt of his foolishness.
