DHA’s statistics: When police are away, criminals play

The crime rate in the area is surging as according to the Citizens-Police Liaison Committee.

Police officials informed The Express Tribune that the crime rate has been on an uptick. “There is no monitoring on Sea View road because officers are fewer in number and do not carry out operations or raids,” says the former SHO. “The crime rate is currently higher now than before.”

On May 30, a house just a stone’s throw from Saudi Consulate on Khayaban-e-Jabal, was robbed. The security guard at the neighbour’s house said that the men took away jewellery as women arrived from the airport after flying in from a trip to Egypt.


The crime rate in the area is surging as according to the Citizens-Police Liaison Committee, around 25 vehicles were snatched in May as compared to nine vehicles snatched in April.

In May, around 26 mobile phones were snatched as compared to 24 in April. Meanwhile till mid of June, around 13 mobile phones had been snatched.

In April, the limit of the Darakhshan Police Station was the 13th most dangerous area in the city. Also, 70 robberies, the highest number within DHA, took place in the station’s jurisdiction last year. Bank robberies have also started in the area when robbers broke into Summit Bank in Badar Commercial Area, taking
Rs3,760,000. There are said to be 92 banks in the limits of this police station.
