ISLAMABAD:

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Saturday recalled three judges from the city’s district court to their parent department in the IHC. The move comes after the lawyers’ fraternity complained of the judges’ negative attitude towards them to the IHC chief justice.

The judges recalled to the IHC include Additional Sessions Judge Pervaizul Qadir, Civil Judge Ihtasham Alam Khan and Qudratullah Muhammad Abbas.

The Islamabad District Bar Association (IDBA) went on strike against the judges on June 23, protesting their negative attitude and demanded that they be repatriated to the IHC.

The situation took a turn for the worse last week, when IDBA President Syed Javed Akbar asked the district court reader for an early date in his case. Upon the reader’s refusal, Akbar reportedly threw his file on his face.

The staffer went on strike as well to protest the lawyers’ unethical behaviour.

On June 29, IDBA members ,led by Akbar, held a meeting with Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry to express concerns regarding the judges’ behaviour.
