NEW YORK: This is with reference to the news item “Models and consumer products lose advertising space to religious messages” (June 27). I fail to understand why the religious right is so obsessed with women’s clothing. The amount of time and effort spent trying to control what women wear is indicative of the mentality of the religious segment of our society. Is its faith put in danger by the length of women’s clothes?
This fixation with exhorting girls to do what the right wing thinks is right through the use of religion is highly unethical. Insecure men who are scared of strong, independent women resort to such advertising campaigns, which is damaging for our society.

Religious advertising (II)
We need to stop the extremists before they turn Pakistan into saudi arabia 2.0.
Why do they need to broadcast religious messages anyway? Religion is a personal matter and if someone wants to learn about religion he/she can easily ask a learned scholar, or even bette, read a copy of the holy book themselves.
