Sahianwala police claimed on Monday to have shot and killed a proclaimed offender in a shootout near Pull Barari.
The deceased was identified as Khalid alias Khala, a resident of Chak No146 Dawood Wala. SSP (Operations) Sadiq Dogar said he was wanted by the police in several robberies and murder cases, including the killing of a constable and a head constable in Balochni area in 2008.
The SSP said three of Khalid’s accomplices had fled following the shootout with the police team chasing the four men riding on two motorcycles.
He said the chase had followed the four men’s refusal to stop on signal of a police team for a check near Pull Barari. He said the men opened fire at the police team who shot back, killing the proclaimed offender. The other three men and the police officials remained unhurt in the shooting.
The SSP said teams had been formed to track down the other three men.
