MULTAN: The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) announced on Saturday that Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) Abdul Qadir Gilani, son of former prime minister Yousaf Raza Gilani, will contest by-elections for his father’s seat NA-151 Multan, Express News reported.

Earlier, it was reported that Fiza Gilani, daughter of Yousaf Raza Gilani, might contest the by-elections.

The NA-151 seat was left vacant after the Supreme Court disqualified Gilani from the post of prime minister. He is ineligible to contest elections for five years.

Malik Ishaq Bucha is expected to contest for the seat from Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N).

Earlier, a petition was filed against Abdul Qadir Gilani claiming fraud worth Rs380,000, alleging that he offered the petitioner a senior position in the Sui Norther Gas Pipeline Limited in return for Rs400,000.

How people will change when your parliament allocate 1.8 or 2 % on the education in the budget.
You vote wrong you get wrong people you get wrong results , now crying ! You have seen last week PPP election result I think we must punish N & Q league + MQM ANP..

We need a leader who can make bold decision on these and many others, bring them in line like Mrs Indira Gandhi done in India.

These families have vast agricultural lands and their votes are already counted and in their pockets, what democracy are we expecting from these illegal tycoon & landlords. This new generation have all the lavish life in front of them the day they borne.

I am happy if they have gained this through hard work and legal means, there should be no bad feeling all of us can never be equal but there should be a law of the land and every body must obey it.

We must wake up and bring a bold and nationalist leader on front other wise we will face these criminals and corrupt leaders and we can do nothing.

You need a democracy you will have these results for another 50 years after that you may get little light at the end of the tunnel .Recommend

@LIAQAT ALI: Mr Imran Khan have already had a deal with PPP and last time they supported PPP’s candidate against PMLN and this time as well PTI is supporting Gailani’s Son. According to this deal in general election the Shah Mehmood and Javaid Hashmi will left their seats of South Punjab for PPP and will contest from Lahore and Pindi and in return PPP will support them in Upper Punjab. So my friend PTI will fully support Musa Gailani like last election.

Ghaffar Khan and family started on the route before 1947
Moti Lal’s son too got on the track before 1947
Ayub Khan’s brother was the opposition leader

Time we got used to it. We are following a long tradition. Easy to say but almost impossible to get rid off.

@ Salman, You are a decent and educated person but common people will not vote you because they know that you have no clout in police, administration, judiciary and other government departments. Every voter has many problems and they expect their elected representative to help them in times of need. Those people who oppose dynastic politics have no clue or knowledge about politics. For example Gillanis are in politics for many generations and achieved maximum, therefore in every organ of the government and society, they have people who work for them. Its far more easier for a Gillani to do something than person like you. How many people you can help in transfers, contracts, from police etc. This is the reason that common voter will prefer a Gillani than you. Please don’t blame common voter. This is the only way, things are done in most of the third world countries.

    @Ordinary Villager:
I would like to think that Imran Khan wants to bring a real change in the country and I want him to succeed. But making such deals with PPP, and tacit understanding with MQM is no way of bringing about the revolution. This is defeatest mentality to start with.By doing this he is siding with worse of the worst and acting as spoiler.I sincereley believe contesting against Gilani’s son with full force and spending ALL his time in the constitunecy ,Imran khan has a fighting chance to win or at least come closer.I dont think that voters across Pakisatn are so stupid that they will not understand if he looses. He would have proven that he has what it takes and will fight for people no matter how bad the odds are.He will have a new army of people behind him throughout Pakisatn even if he looses .
Go for it Imran khan , go for it.I will be terribly dis-apponited terribly if you continue your defensive sort of politics .Your aim should not be to limited to defaet PMLN but to win throughout Pakistan.
I also call upon the core supporters of PTI also to encourgae theri leader to think and act big.In my personal judgement he is our only hope today but he is spoiling it by having very narrow minded and small thinking people around him.

All the hate mongers would see the election results soon, the final verdict by the people not their paid govt servants who have made the courts a political party. It is a great test of democracy after the recent assaults and a chance to show people’s sentiments about the disqualifications. Let PML-N and PTI contest the elections and prove their worth to the voters. Enough talks from the urban elites, let the local people decide who do they want?

Dynasties are not limited to the sub-continent. In USA, the Kennedys and the Bushes were ‘dynasties’. In India, Motilal Nehru’s family still rules. In pakistan, Fatima followed Muhammad Ali Jinnah. In KP, Bacha Khan’s family is there, and even in religious parties, Fazlur Rehman and Samiul Haq took over from their fathers. PMLN is as dynastic and clannish as they come. The only two political parties that have had some electoral success and are not at all dynastic are MQM and Jamaat-e Islami. I would vote for neither.

Let the people of NA-151 speak. If they vote against Abdul Qadir, it would mean the people have accepted the verdict of PCO judge . if otherwise, it means the people have rejected it like they rejected the verdict in the judicial murder of Z. A. Bhutto. Recommend

Pakistanis you should learn a lesson from this, never ever vote for PPP again or you will have this dynasty perpetuate for ever. It seems to me that this young generation of Pakistan just don’t have the back bone to stand up to this rampant corruption by this outfit in Islamabad. When will you wake up and ask for early elections. One thug and looter was kicked out but bigger thug and looter moved in the Prime Minister House. The fault lies with you people who does not have the spine to stand up, even Nepalese were better citizens than Pakistanis.
