An open-house, free general health awareness programme was held at the Rotary Club of Karachi (RCK) Community Centre in Gulistan-e-Jauhar on Saturday.
Around 100 patients visited the small health camp that had two general physicians conducting the diagnostic tests and stalls set up by Sindh Lab, Aga Khan Hospital and Medical Aid Foundation.
The facilities provided at the camp included free consultation, tests for hepatitis B and C, body mass index and blood glucose level, cancer awareness and free medicines. Medical Aid Foundation’s founding member Dr Saira S Khan was present at the camp to raise public awareness on cancer, particularly breast, cervical and oral cancers. The community centre has been working actively for the past four years, when the club opened the Artificial Limb Centre after the devastating earthquake in Northern Areas.
