Tradition of accusing people of treason should end: Altaf Hussain

The tradition of accusing people of treason just because they follow a different ideology should end, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain said on Wednesday.
Speaking to human rights activist Asma Jahangir over the phone, Hussain expressed sorrow over Jahangir being called a traitor and being prevented from entering the bar association.
The MQM chief said that his party had been labelled as traitor earlier and now Husain Haqqani and Jahangir along with other known names are accused of disloyalty.
Hussain assured Jahangir of his support in these difficult times.
While appreciating Hussain’s assistance, Jahangir said democratic environment can only survive if everyone has patience to tolerate opposing opinions.

There is a simple solution to stopping people from being called a traitor by other people! Just have the word omitted from the worlds dictionary’s…
I know that is impossible to do so,similarly so is this what is being asked…The reality is that as long as there exists a word “traitor” with the clearly defined meaning and description then whomsoever act and deeds fall under the parameter of the definition of same ,would be continued to be labeled as such!
Thus apparently,the only two solutions available are,that either the word get’s omitted permanently from the languages spoken around the globe or people should avoid such acts and deeds which could fall within the ambit of this definition.

Even though I am against MQM’s activities and still don’t trust them,I would still agree with this statement by Altaf Hussain.Labelling others as traitors and Zionist/Jewish agent,worker of CIA/RAW/Mosad/MI5/KGB is a norm among Pakistanis.

Won’t it would be helpful, realistic n pragmatic for leader of this coalition to just forget the word “Mohajjir” from his n his party’s memory chip? If it’s done than his or his party words may carry weight. Because, by using words mohajjir n refugees looses their rights of indulging in domestic affairs (so far it has been a free ride) surely they know this.

Well, he’s right. It appears people get the label just from disagreements. It wouldn’t be so bad if it wasn’t for the implications and weight behind that word. It amounts to saying you believe someone should kill them. It’s irresponsible, especially for public figures.
